This year we welcomed many of our local, long time campers back, and we had new Rockers attending from Texas, Florida, Tennessee, New York and Virginia.

SUMMER CAMP 2010
The GREATEST summer camp experience of your life! Progressive Music Center's Original School of Rock Camp returns for our 14th year with an updated and innovative approach to our ever popular summer program.
Music + Tech = MusicTech
Our camps are known for the amazing concerts that our campers put on after only a week of working together to make it all happen. The bands sound like they have played together for more than 6 months and the musicianship is incredible. However, in today's music world it takes more than just picking up your instrument, plugging in and jamming. Musicians today have to know how to not only write and perform, they have to be able to record their material, promote themselves and rely on an ever growing technology factor to be a musician. We set out in 2009 with the idea to overhaul our camp structure and create a better camp that serves the needs of the modern musician, hobby musician and casual player.
Yes, we will still have our "campers" rehearse and perform a weekly concert as we have done for the past 13 years, but on top of that we will combine music and technology for MusicTech. We'll have sessions on recording, promoting your music, the latest in music tech gear and how to use it in your band's gigs and rehearsals and we're adding more to the schedule everyday. These will be hands-on sessions where you do the work and by weeks end you can take your performance with you (we have a professional company recording your rehearsals and gig for a DVD).
Everyone is here to play and not watch movies and sit around doing nothing. Our musicians make new friends and increase their self expression/self confidence and creativity. Hereto, the camps help improve memory skills, cognitive flexibility, sequencing and organizational skills - all of this while having fun in their bands working towards that Friday Finale concert.
Sound like fun? It's lots of fun and we want you to join us! So if you're ready for an awesome time this summer let’s look at camp dates, answer some of your questions and get you registered.

Keyboard Campers can bring their own keyboard (recommended), but we do have amps, sticks and keyboards available if you can not transport your own gear.
Content & Schedule
Our camps are built around our 'Original School of Rock' program, Rock Academy, which gives each camper the opportunity to make music and play together in a band for the entire week ending with a concert (**held in our Wake Forest facility**) on the Friday evening of the last day of your camp week. Over the course of the week the bands will pick a band name, arrange original and cover songs, learn recording techniques (see attached sheet on recording tech section) and work together to put on a concert at the end of the week. Progressive Music Center instructors will work with each band to ensure they are staying on track and performing to the best of their abilities.
Food
We will provide snacks, and bottled water throughout the day but everyone should bring a bag lunch and drink Monday - Thursday. We will provide lunch on Friday. We have a microwave and refrigerator if you need to keep it cold or warm it up. There are also a few restaurants that are within walking or driving distance. Some teachers make a food run so we will be happy to bring you something back if you ask.
