Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

Where are you located?
We currently serve the central North Carolina regions with two locations. Our main office is located at 2720 Godley Lane, Raleigh, NC 27617. Our second location is at 1839 South Main Street, Suite 344, Wake Forest, NC 27587. Look for our new locations in the Northern Virginia (Fairfax/McLean) and DC locations in 2009.

What instruments do you teach?
We instruct lessons for beginners, intermediate and advanced level students in guitar (acoustic and electric), bass guitar, drums and percussion (including marching, indoor drumline, percussion ensemble and band prep courses) piano, voice and saxophone.

Do you have group classes?
We offer group classes for guitar and drum in 10 week sessions. Group classes are only an introductory class that serves as an orientation for beginning students. Please call for group class times and availability. All other lessons are private lessons.

How long are your lessons?
We offer half-hour and one-hour lessons weekly. Eighty percent of our student population takes a weekly thirty minute lesson. Most one-hour lessons are for students driving further than forty-five minutes to one-hour for lessons with us. There are no registration fees or long term contracts for any of our lessons and you can start/stop anytime.

What ages do you teach?
It's never to late or early to learn an instrument. Our guitar teachers currently have several five year old students and our drum and piano instructors currently have students that are four years old.

Do I need a guitar, bass or piano to get started?
You will need to purchase your own instrument for practice during lessons and at home (and to use in a band). We have a great selection of guitars, basses, amps, keyboards and instruments that we hand select in our retail shops, so we can help you pick the right instrument for your needs. If you already own a guitar or bass guitar, please bring this with you to each lesson. We have everything else you need, including amps, cords and tuners/metronomes for the lessons.

Do I need a drum set to get started?
Not to take a few lessons to see how you like it. If you are a new student with no previous experience we recommend a Real Feel practice pad and sticks. Eventually you will need to purchase a drum set for practice (and to use in a band) which we have nice hand picked drum sets for the beginner to advanced player in our retail shops. There is no need to bring anything to your first lesson. We have all the drums, practice pads, ear protection and sticks in our teaching rooms. Our staff will be happy to help you with selecting the right instrument for your needs.

What times are available for lessons?
We are open and teaching Monday - Saturday and closed Sundays. Specifically, our Wake Forest location hours are 10:30 am - 9:00 pm Monday - Thursday and Saturday 10:00 am - 3:00 pm and closed Sunday. Raleigh hours are Monday - Thursday 2:00 pm - 8:30 pm, Saturday 10:00 am - 3:00 pm and closed Friday and Sunday.
